HOCl is a naturally occurring element that can easily penetrate the cell wall and membrane. Once inside the cell, it oxidizes various components of the cell, such as the mitochondrion, which is the powerhouse of the cell. Common Salt (NaCl) is mixed with water. If the pH in the feed water is high, an appropriate pH balancer is added to reduce the pH. This system has a generator that has Titanium electrodes coated with precious metal oxides. DC current passes between the electrodes, converting the salt solution into Hypochlorous Solution or Electrolyzed Water. This is a very effective disinfectant for agriculture.
For an Irrigation volume of 100 cubic meter per acre, if 20 ppm of Hypochlorous Solution is to be applied, then 2 kgs of HOCl is used. Hence, the required capacity will be 2 kgs per week per acre, which is 285 grams/day.
